Fitbit Updates

So I got an email from FITBIT yesterday.  I think its pretty cool that I also get a weekly summary of my progress, thanks FITBIT.

It looks much prettier in my actual email, however I was unable to  cut and paste the info as I hoped I could.

Im sharing some of the info but not all of it. I don’t know if anyone wants to see my caloric intake :), if you do Il be glad to share. I’m under eating, so one thing for sure is I have to increase my food intake, and Im certain that looks like planning my meals better. Truth is Im so not use to eating so much food and I really need to get this part of my life in check!

I’m also a terrible sleeper, I’m not surprised to know 3 of the last 7 days I slept for under 6 hours…however seeing it in print certainly does make me realize I need more sleep, something else to work on for sure.

Anyhow , I’m still happy with my progress!

This is how many more calories I should have eaten. The more I walk, the more I get to eat( or should) eat..imagine that…I cant keep up!

Fitbit- Week 1 down- what have I’ve learned….

Well here I am. I’m now at the end of week 1 having used my recently purchased Fitbit Charge HR for the past seven days.

My first goal was to challenge myself to meet 10,000 steps a day.
So before I go any further with my personal review I wanted to display my stats for the week…ta daaaaa!!!

Weekly Totals
• 89,566 steps
• 225 floors
• 62.21 kl

Now with those awesome stats there is no way in the world I could feel anything but proud!

 3bd43aa.jpg

What amazing piece of wisdom can I share from my experience?…hmmm…well the first thing I learned is that I walk a lot more that I thought I did in a day, in general that is. In fact many days I have far exceeded the goal that I had set (who woulda guessed that?)

Prior to using this device I had no idea that I had such a busy step day. I’m not saying I would’ve reached my new set daily set goals without the Fitbit motivating me, especially the cost related motivation, but truth is I have never really had such an accurate pedometer reading before, never, and I’ve owned a few pedometers. As a reflection I now feel this knowledge itself is empowering!

Biggest question ??? Did the Fitbit motivate me? Hell yeah!

And not just the device, but the whole package that comes as part of the experience in owing a fitbit, aka the membership site, the friends support, menus, badges, motivating prompts and so much more. When I bought it I really didn’t know much except I had to have one.
I love the feeling of being able to be in control. This simple knowing of really getting a true picture of my health seemed to be just out of my reach before my #Fitbit purchase.

This knowing equates to the new found knowledge and power of self discovery that is only a result of the fitbit package, as you can trust me when I say I could write my own book about whats out there as I may very well have tried most, if not all methods and products that are suppose to inspire or work to keep you motivated to exercise and eat right.

The online #Fitbit tools allowed me to enter in my caloric intake so I could truly track how much food I still needed to eat for the day, or not eat.

Of course you may think its simple to know what to eat if you are healthy, but that not always the case if you totally blow out your metabolism from yo yo dieting as I have.

Truth is I often under-eat which ultimately causes my body to store fat as a stress response to a message that I’m in starvation mode.

The online tools coupled with the constant calculations of the steps I take resulting in burned calories is the quintessential key to understanding what my person, my body, my very own specific needs are in terms of what I have to do to get to where I need to be in my health.

Im excited for week 2

Maybe I’ll even set a new goal soon..I’ll check back at the beginning of week 3.

My New Fitbit!

Fitbit Charge - Black, Small

Well I did it, I invested in my health(again) and this time I feel super awesome about staying motivated.

I purchased a FITBIT Charge HR last weekend and I have to say it has a lot to offer in terms of information, message boards, tracking, sleeping, I cant even tell you how much as I just got it a few days ago and I have much to explore.

I’ve been doing great with setting challenges prior to buying my #fitbitchargerhr as we recently have been caring for a friends dog since February( extendo pet sitting, great dog BTW, his name is Duke) which of course left me ( and my family)no choice but to gain some good walking habits every day( except my recent short recovery after a slip on ice which re-injured my left ankle two weeks ago, ouch! Dog didn’t even help me back up, ugh!)

Despite my wish to not break my walking habits, I did have to take a small break and gave my ankle a rest last week cause the swelling and pain became unbearable, which was just not helping my overall intention of “staying motivated”.

Rested, I finally decided to buy a #fitbitcharge last Saturday

(insert loud applause here  ).

I say bought lightly as my credit card will likely disagree with that analogy. However I am fine with the affirmation that

I DESERVE IT!

So I plan to write about my trials and tribulations and hope that this new device will inspire , motivate and intrigue me longer than the normal 2-3 months will usually ends with me fizzling off the health wagon wishing I hadn’t months later when I feel like a bag of poop again.

I noticed yesterday when I charged my #fitbit , when I unplugged it a cute little message “HUG ME” displayed on the screen. HOW ADORABLE!!!! I’m totally in Love

Weekly Totals ( Since Saturday March 21,2015)

  • 63,969 steps
  • 44.39 km

So far this week!  (can you believe that) !

Unleash Me

Tree revised

I’m travelling down a new path of adventure

A path much like I have walked before

My destiny precise with crisp eyes and clear vision

As I walk through that same steel framed door

This time the steel framed door just fell open

Flowers blossom and bloom along my way

The sunshine warming my subtle, shy hesitance

Fluffy clouds stretch to pull doubt and worries away

It is the same road but somehow now different

Something has changed this time from the last

The sun shines higher in the sky which is cloudless

Only today’s adventures will begin my new past

No heaviness can be felt upon my heart

a new babe who’s just born I feel free

My new life carved from the wishes I wish for

Watch our world,  move aside,  I unleash me!

Day 5-7 Juice fast

UPDATE: I made the juice fast till day 9, at that time I just couldnt drink one more cucuber, not one, my gag reflex was out of control..

Overall experience out of 10- I give it a 8. I lost about 9 pounds, but felt deprived . I think its a great way to detox and replenish your vitamins for sure, but I would say juicing alone is not for me, juicing and eating,,yay baby! I would do it again though..yes I would, just maybe less days, say 7 days max.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Well I’ve been meaning to update on my juice fast but between internet connection issues due to construction as well and the overall service connection issues with our server, well I was unable to update till now.

Day 5 Again had a headache, however felt much more energy and excitement about the changes I was beginning to see in my health ad physic.

Day 6 Being a Saturday, I knew this day would be a challenge, and it was. I took my kids to the mall to buy new shoes, the smell of food causing me sadness and despair around  every corner. Before I left, I juiced a healthy celery, cucumber, spinach ,apple juice, but as I sat there watching my kids eat pizza and subs for lunch, each mouthful tasted less and less appealing emotionally, with the best intentions,  purchased more fruit and veggies determined to complete my 10 day fast. Long story short, I cheated!! No I do not se this as a failure, just a minor setback.

Day 7 Again back on track, I am now going to try and go till Friday, so that will be a 12 day juice fast minus my minor indiscretion of a cheat. Feeling good!

Day 2 – 4 juice fast

Image

Well I attempted to post this a couple times, however my computer was not cooperating with me.

So just a little update:

Day 2- Hungry as a bear, woke up with massive headache, took some pain killers which worked. I grumbled through the day feeling angry at myself when I smelled food I liked. I still resisted. It was difficult cooking dinner for  my family as everything smelled even better than the last time I cooked the same meal, however I stuck to juicing through it and again developed another headache before bed,  this time I decided to not take anything for it.

Day 3– Felt much better about the morning juice, it was delicious ( carrot, apple, beet picture above). Yet when lunch time rolled around  I definately had some taste bud resistance and a slight hint of contemptment with the green(kale) juice which I drank twice more that day ( blahh).  I also noticed a slight rash under my chin and on my neck in the afternoon, not itchy or anything just bumps, maybe a detox reaction. I was exhausted and totally without energy when I finally got home at 900pm . I crawled into bed at 10pm(which is about 2hrs before my normal bedtime), knowing I  had to listen to my body.

Day 4: I am starting off with a great amount of energy and feel pretty good. I did have a slight headache when I got up, but it may be because I got up earlier today so I could juice for my day at work. Really amazed iI havent chewed a morsel since Sunday, this ten day juice fast may actually be a sucess!

My Ten Day Juice Fast – Day 1

Green juice

I’ve decided I’ve had enough and I need to make some drastic changes for my health to ensure I remain healthy, happy and disease free ..I’m not getting any younger after-all. I still have a few good miles ahead of me and to do my body a favour and make that transition seamless, I need to help myself now. My journey begins with a 10 day juice only fast, however I can only hope that those ten days are just a beginning to a 30 day juice fast..crossing all my piggies here! I’ve been semi sorta working my way up to this for the past two months! WISH ME LUCK!

Well today I began my journey of my 10 day juice fast.  My morning started with hot fresh ginger tea with lemon( 2 cups) and a chilled carrot/apple/ginger juice that I squeezed last night.

The carrot apple juice was amazing I must say. I will be looking forward to the next one, and for snack I am supposed to have a coconut water(which I forgot to purchase) so I will tough it out with tea and lemon water.

Lunch will bring me to a green juice of kale, cucumber, celery , apple ginger and that one I’m not so sure about yet. I  will provide a full update before I retire each evening on my progress.

Last thoughts of my first day of juicing.

Well I made it! It really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be for my first day, no crazy detox nightmare. I’ve been working up to this fast for about two months I suppose when I first found myself adventuring  out on a four day all raw food diet. Then I experienced a detox stage as the absence of my morning coffee was replaced with a headache filled four days of hell that systemically rolled out instead of my anticipated energy filled gift I was to receive with this clean eating change.

I knew but still I wondered..how is this supposed to be good for me?

Now I am more prepared as for at least a month or more Ive been cutting out many of my dearly loved “wheat” foods and eating much healthier. Only real comment is the prep time provided for these juice recipes does not reflect my “actual”  prep time, especially when I am juicing two or three kinds of juice as I have been. So much longer!!

Anyhow, Ill be heading off to bed knowing I ate more vegetables today in one day then I have in he past week, I’m a feeling good!
