Her Words
Her words they danced within my heart
Be free, explore, a life must start
Unlike mine, Quick! Youth will pass
Grab freedom now, don’t leave it last
Wondering back, how it might have changed
Had the life I lived, just remained the same
A narrowed world, a comfort spot
No exploration would have been sought
But I wondered if mistakes I made
The place I left remained the same
Although her, who I loved, life did not last
I reap regret, as her life escaped far too fast
Her words carved, engraved still in my heart
Though it’s true, the life I lived failed a good start
Her words to live by as haunting as the miles between
Lost were a mother’s hugs, caresses, voices now unseen
I just wish I could have had both worlds
Her wishes, her hugs, and the life I explored.
