October Keto Fasting Recap

So the data is finally in……..

The total result for October is a weight loss of 7.6 lbs and a little more than 8″ total loss of my entire body ( including 2′ off my chubba wugga hips! yay) , which I am very pleased with.  A total loss of 25 lbs ( give or take a cpl ounces) for the past 9 weeks if we are including just since the time with extended fasting.

I am very thrilled that I was still able to lose this month despite the indiscretions with my 1-2 high carbs day fails.

What I did do that was different this month was my goal was to extend my 3 x 42 hr fasts into longer fasts and even though I started off slow and unsure what a longer fast would feel like, I ensured lots of reading, preparation, electrolyte awareness and even some regular exercise was added in to give me the best outcome.

I began extending my fasts the first week of October just trying to stretch it out to a  48hr fast, which I admit was challenging , yet I pushed myself and used social media to inform and motivate me to reach my goal of at least one 72hr fast, yet I pushed on.

FASTING SCHEDULE:

Week 1 -Total 121Hrs : 9/28/19- 42hr 10/01/19-42hr  10/03/19-42hr

Week 2 89hrs-10/05/19 46hr- 10/08/19-48hrs

Week 3-101hrs – 10/11/19- 65hr 10/14/19- 23hrs 10/17/19 -66hrs

Week 4 – 120hrs 10/25/19 10/28/19- 27 hrs 10/30/19  44hrs

Well I was able to achieve the longest fast I had ever done and I am proud to report I was very successful in accomplishing my first ever 5 day fast (120hrs) !

I did that! Yes, Yes, Yes I did!  WOOT WOOT!

I had also obsessed over how to re-feed as once in my past I had a bad experience after a 4 day fast and now in hindsight I see my bad experience was completely due to not preparing and being informed on how to reintroduce food. So this time I was much smarter.

First food item: MCT Oil – in my black coffee as I learned that dairy is inflammatory to the body & introducing food would be best without.

MCT-Oil-Benefits

That was all I had after breaking my fast that evening at 10pm or so.

The next day was also so very important and I had  a kombucha drink- sorry I dont remember the name , but it was low carb ( I think 1-2 carbs total) sparkling low ginger lemon drink.

And then I had some Gut Shot & Sauerkraut to reintroduce probiotics into my system a couple hours later before I had a real meal of a salad and fresh veggies/

Breaking a fst..Food

I know so many people want to know stats and loss amount after extended fasts however I cannot report on what that actual loss looked on the scale as I am still refusing to repeat my past mistakes of my former scale obsession & continue to be committed to weighting in just the beginning of the month to prevent myself from crazy making thoughts again.

I cannot even say how incredibly happy I am very happy with the outcome so far. Im looking at a goal weight that will need to decrease my current weight down at least another 25-30lbs  but with incredible motivation I can finally see it coming around the corner.

I continue to take the stairs at work & workout 3 times a week for approx 1hr, just light weights and

For now these are my results, Im thrilled. Feeling AMAZING!!

Yay Collar Bones..hello!

Keto Challenge – Day 4

Image result for hungry cartoonOkay, so here I am at day 4, my fourth day of intermediate fasting within a 24hr window, and my fourth day of keto eating (under 20 carbs).

Today’s hunger, hmmm, well its definitely much less than yesterday however at this moment it is only noon, so its hard to say how the afternoon will go.

I’ve been tracking my macros on the My Fitness Pal app and of course have been utilizing some face book online groups to stay motivated. I dont remember feeling this challenged the first time however its likely because I now know how to cheat and maintain (mostly) whereas before I had no idea what I was getting into and the weight more or less jumped off me, or at least that is how I felt at that time 3 years ago.

This July challenge in actually from one of my keto groups on facebook and the challenge is is to count full carbs instead of net carbs (which is the carb minus the fiber) and as I a vegetarian Im finding this to be the hardest part of this newest challenge. As I have been living in the lazy keto and net carb world for 3 years (lazy keto maybe last 1.5yrs), my normal go to foods cannot be consumed as I will easily blow over on my carb macros (5% of my daily food intake) , and finding the right protein (45%) that doesn’t boost up my carbs is by far the most difficult thing as an ovo lacto vegetarian. Yes I can easily use cheese to boost my protein, so I thought, however eating too much cheese will increase my fat macro which I am doing my best to keep at 55% , so Im not sure how to work this one out yet, details will follow when/if I find out how to manage this issue.

I also realized this week (while getting back into a tracking carb routine) I’ve been living in the “moderate” carb world instead of the low carb world and fooling myself with believing I was still eating low carb, which I now realize I was not, although I have still practiced several windows of Intermediate fasting. I do plan on going back to net carbs after this month but I will SUCCEED this month at the 20 total carb… I will, I will,  I will ( voice inside needs to be told this hourly).

In terms of my weight, I went down just  0.3lbs since yesterday, so Ill take it!
