Keto Challenge – Day 3 of 31

So I had initially hoped to start my keto challenge on July 1st, however instead of starting on July 1st my plans detoured a few days earlier when we decided to go for dinner after my sons high school graduation. The choice of restaurant was not mine however we ended up at one of my favorite restaurants which I hadn’t been to in quite sometime. As the smell of food hit my nostrils, my mouth watered, my excitement and likely food addiction soared as my ability to resist diminished immediately.  My old myself appeared again, hungry, excited and lying to my keto self as I whispered under my breath “just one meal wont hurt.” However knowing I had another 4 days off and a fun filled weekend planned, a keto challenge ahead and company who loved carbs, well deep down I knew was lying to myself about that one meal.

For all of those who have followed a low carb/keto diet might be familiar with the weight gain that follows an off plan meal or two.  Of course after 5 fun filled days off plan my weight sky rocketed up a total of 10lbs . Seeing the scale balloon up like this would likely cause many people a lot of stress, however as this is not my first “off plan” experience I knew to expect weigh gain.

The other part of that crazy jump in weight, is the knowing that as long as I get back on track I will of course reduce as quickly as I gained, however that comes at a price, a strict eating window for a few days usually helps, and so far it has. Today after practicing just 2 x 24 hr fasts my weight has already reduced by 7lbs, I realize most of the gain is in water retention, but this still leaves me with another 3lbs that could be actually fat I gained, so we shall see what happens in the upcoming days. Today is my 3rd 24 hr fast 9 so dinner to dinner) and Ive begun tracking my macros again so I can really make sure I meet the basics for protein, which as a vegetarian is my biggest challenge.

I also wanted to point out today on Day 3 of keto, Im so damn hungry and I feel like Fred Flintstone, argggg..its been a challenge today to keep the hunger at bay so I know that as of yet im still not in ketosis.
