Nature’s Redemption

20140425-210201.jpg

Her long yellow hair fallen ragged through winter

tucked under snowy mounds imprisoned till spring

with warm winds caressing gently lifting

begging crocuses and shy buds to bloom and sing

Heart heavy as winters wrath recent

I wondered why nature had unleashed so much scorn

too much beauty all mangled in just hours

lastly damage leaving me empty forlorn

Over small mountains I forged on defeated

this place grim faced, fruitless at best

sorrow filled my heart as I stood witness

natures wrath from a state of unrest

Of the corner my eye I stared speechless

deer rushing through brush so close by

I quickly smile as I see first witness

natures redemption

as spring breathes hello with a sigh

Mother Earth

20140116-152623.jpg
Frigid wind howls lonely in the night sky
virgin icicles flash frozen
in a moment’s hush

With just one gasp of her winters breathe, encapsulated
crystallized diamond embellishes
heavy limbs with frozen tears

Beauty captured in transformation
perhaps mocking the innocence
of this spiritual essence

Hint and a promise only too soon
as early as the morning’s first ray
a witness to the last sunrise experienced

Freedom from this icy diamond
Burden and infliction heavy
on rooftops and limbs like a double edged sword

Natures beauty releases
wet teardrops glistening
rushing towards the mysterious

Unknown purpose
returning back to what heaven and earth call
Our Great Mother Earth

Cold Air Whispers

Fall-Wallpaper-Photography-HD

Cold air whispers

Venting relief from summer’s heat

Fall hastening nudges

its soon time I must go greet

Mother natures request undeniable

bloomed bountiful colors enhance

Beautiful earth rejoices

as colored leaves prepare for their dance

Fallen leaves crisp not forgotten

As summer prepares to sleep

sweet wind sings a new song

in harmony nature does reap.

Haiku – Four Seasons

Image

Four Seasons

Orange lilies sway

Swollen wood fence leaning drenched

First summers storm over

Cold autumn breeze blows

Bell ringing in the distance

Red leaves slow dancing

Tree branch barren home

Red oak acorns deep

Squirrels huddle for warmth

Ice soon melts new day

Gray chair with no color creaks

Sunshine breaths new life

This is our first (mom & son) attempt at writing together. Someone recently introduced me to the tradition of writing a haiku, we had fun!
