Haiku – Four Seasons

Image

Four Seasons

Orange lilies sway

Swollen wood fence leaning drenched

First summers storm over

______________________________________________________

Cold autumn breeze blows

Bell ringing in the distance

Red leaves slow dancing

______________________________________________________

Tree branch barren home

Red oak acorns deep

Squirrels huddle for warmth

______________________________________________________

Ice soon melts new day

Gray chair with no color creaks

Sunshine breaths new life

This is our first (mom & son) attempt at writing together. Someone recently introduced me to the tradition of writing a haiku, we had fun!

Reflection

Reflection

When you look in the mirror what do you see?

Tired eyes, wide nose

Perhaps some crooked-bent teeth

Are you not looking deep?

When you look in the mirror what do you say?

Are you too wide, too thin?

Negative words swim in

Do you just turn away?

When others see you, what do they see?

Do they whisper or glare?

Do they flirt? Maybe stare?

No, they are not looking deep!

Only you hold the key, you have to love both

The one on the inside and the one on the out

For true beauty is not a reflection don’t you see

A reflective mirror will not hold life’s key

The depth of your character is much deeper than skin

Too bad others don’t always look in

Her Words

walking-alone-in-cold

Her Words

Her words they danced within my heart

Be free, explore, a life must start

Unlike mine, Quick! Youth will pass

Grab freedom now, don’t leave it last

Wondering back, how it might have changed

Had the life I lived, just remained the same

A narrowed world, a comfort spot

No exploration would have been sought

But I wondered if mistakes I made

The place I left remained the same

Although her, who I loved, life did not last

I reap regret, as her life escaped far too fast

Her words carved, engraved still in my heart

Though it’s true, the life I lived failed a good start

Her words to live by as haunting as the miles between

Lost were a mother’s hugs, caresses, voices now unseen

I just wish I could have had both worlds

Her wishes, her hugs, and the life I explored.

Fly Free

Sunset-Bird-4feac1c45d16f

Wings clipped stunted

forced under control

A  forbidden story cannot be told

Caged feelings pent up inside

struggling for release

to be free to fly

Unlock my cage , oh sir would you please

unleash my desires

with some words to tease

Repression so strong

too strong to just see

Help me open the door

I need to fly free

Spring Oasis

Spring Oasis

Spring Oasis

Sauntering without hindrance in consciousness

Sudden waves of lilac delight

Bourne of a sweet tempered breeze I inhale

Powerful auras and essence soon ignite

Fields of flowers, tall grass, background birds singing

Closing my eyes I can no longer resist

I feel myself floating on air to that place I know well

Only in my mind does this utopia exist

Happiness and laughter fill my oasis

Birth of life from all nature abide here

Lilac carries me on a cloud of joy

Perched above all sadness and fear

Immaculateness wafting from rows of white lilacs

Serenity encompasses my spirit with peace

Pink lilacs increase my self confidence

My inner spirit strengthened, absence of meek

The violets ignite my spirits passions

Storms of rapture to undo all the wrongs

At peace I repose with new purpose

As my oasis once again has helped me grow strong

Dark Rain

dark rain pic

Lashing out at me in rage anger
Speaking ill of my name and my strife
Forgetting all good and the love I have offered
Your perception is yours, not truth of my life

Why such dark anger and aversion do you offer
Lurking round corners my soul tainted thrashed with this hate
Poisoning those who had not met me with your lies no regret
This reflection you cast in your dark rain is not my fate as you berate

Just leave me alone in your cowardly scorn
I’ll do my best to forgive this negatively you rain
Your words and your hatred just the inner sadness of your soul
Such sadness I see, this pain that you hold
Your reflection of you and nothing more than your pain
This is but you your dark rain , not me nor my name

This picture you’ve painted lines smeared you lash out
Never speaking to me these claims you cast out
such foul words that you’ve said
too much anger resentment built up in your head
Exploding the surroundings of those that dare enter your dark dread
So leave my name not on your lips
For I have a lot of good that you do not express
And this world that you live in, it’s only your world don’t you see?
Your anger is not mine to own it’s yours, so just let me be
